THE MARGARETS

Sheri S. Tepper

Hatchette Livre,

$32.99

Bordering on fantasy and science fiction, Tepper's novel is a little hard to follow at times, but overall, a thoroughly enjoyable read.

It follows the life of the young girl Margaret. At various pivotal points in her life, she feels a splitting as she becomes two people, each having chosen a different path.

The novel follows the lives of these people on the various planets involved in the book, as each acquire the necessary skills to complete their mission, orchestrated by the mysterious gardener and several of her associates.

Across the system, people are plagued by the ghyrm, parasites designed to suck the life from humans, the ultimate weapons of the human-hating Quaatar and their kin.

The book is written in an exquisite style, which I found a captivating read.
