HUNTER Valley Grammar students are getting first-hand experience with some of Australia's top scientists in Sydney this week.

Robert O'Grady and Alanah Thornton are at the University of Sydney's science gifted and talented discovery program, after getting into the top 10 per cent of students who sat exams to win a place.

Louise Freys, from the Faculty of Science, said students could meet scientists and learn about cutting-edge research.
