VICTORIA University is offering a new bachelor of science - community science specialisation course.

Those looking to the future for careers in teaching in areas of science, project management and community liaison and as a science communicator are considered ideal applicants.

Students will be expected to work in the community to develop and run community-based projects while they study.

Depending on subjects chosen, students can expect jobs within the chemical, food science, biotechnology, health sciences and medical environments. Course

co-ordinator Nick Athanasiou says this could also lead to occupations in engineering, physical sciences, occupational health and safety, and other associated industries.

He says: "This is a unique hands-on approach that provides for a different type of learning style that complements academic skills.
